Giving Valuable Experiences to the Generation who will Lead the Future
Sumitomo Riko supports the young people who will pave the way to the future by providing experience-based programs and awards in the hope that they will have as many valuable experiences as possible, which are meaningful to them while they are still young.

Sustena Manufacturing Tech Award by Sumitomo Riko

For ten years starting in 2014, we conducted the "SDGs Student Essay Award."
We have undertaken this award initiative to incorporate fresh perspectives from students into our business operations, aiming to build a sustainable society while contributing to the development of the young people who will shape the future.
Building upon these efforts, and starting in the 2025 fiscal year, we launched the "Sustena Manufacturing Tech Award by Sumitomo Riko." This new initiative solicits concrete proposals for new technologies, innovations, and ideas that contribute to resolving social issues—such as those addressed by the SDGs.

Collaboration with Nagaoka University of Technology: Support for the international conference "10th STI-Gigaku2025"

To support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our company participated in, sponsored, and made a donation to "The 10th International Conference on 'Science of Technology Innovation'" (10th STI-Gigaku 2025). The Nagaoka University of Technology organized this international conference in collaboration with colleges of technology, private enterprises, local governments, and other entities.
Through this initiative—conducted in partnership with the Nagaoka University of Technology, which is actively driving the SDGs as the only UN-designated hub university in East Asia—we aim to contribute to technological innovation and problem-solving that advance the SDGs, while also fostering the talent that will shape the future.
At this international conference, discussions focused on solutions to various challenges—such as energy, climate change, poverty, and hunger—essential for realizing a sustainable society, based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which comprise 17 goals and 169 targets.
Additionally, a poster session featured English presentations on activities contributing to the achievement of the SDGs and on the results of joint research between Colleges of Technology (Kosen) and Nagaoka University of Technology. Five outstanding presentations were honored with the "Sumitomo Riko Award," intended to encourage students in their efforts toward achieving the SDGs.
