Contributing to Society by Leveraging the Vitality of Citizen’s Activities Organizations
There is a limit to how much we can do to directly address the key issues of our social contribution activities. Therefore, we will promote five activities by supporting citizen’s activities through grant programs and other means, and will also contribute to the development of citizen’s organizations. The grant system is intended to be a “network-type” system that is rooted in each region.

Sumitomo Riko “Dream, Town, and People Development Grant” - SDGs Community Development Support Program

Under the theme of “A city where everyone wants to live,” we are implementing a grant program for organizations that are engaged in municipal (town) activities that will help achieve the SDGs in the five priority areas of Sumitomo Riko’s social contribution activities.
Under this program, grants are awarded to four projects in the “Dream Building Start” category, which supports new or small-scale activities, and to two projects in the “Town and Human Development” category, which supports activities that are of public interest or of a large scale. The projects submitted to the program are reviewed by a panel of judges consisting of experts, nonprofit organizations, and Sumitomo Riko.
In 2010, this program was launched in Komaki City, where the head office and Komaki Plant are located, in cooperation with the nonprofit organization Komaki Citizen's Activity Network, and in 2014 the scope was expanded to “Dream, Town, and People Development Grant in Kita-Owari.” Since 2020, in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Machinet Oguchi, we have been supporting citizen activities in five cities and two towns in Kita-Owari (Komaki City, Kasugai City, Iwakura City, Konan City, Inuyama City, Oguchi Town, and Fuso Town).
In 2012, in collaboration with M Bridge, a nonprofit organization in Matsusaka City, we started the same program for four cities and towns (Matsusaka City, Meiwa Town, Taki Town, and Odai Town) in the area surrounding our Matsusaka plant. Furthermore, in September 2016, in collaboration with the Ayabe Volunteer General Center, we began providing grants to citizen groups based in Ayabe City. And in FY2017, we began providing grants to the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture (Susono City, Gotemba City, and Nagaizumi-Town) in the area surrounding the Fuji Susono Plant with Machiterasu Seisakusho General Incorporated Association. In FY2024, we newly started subsidies in Ageo City, an area around the Saitama Plant, expanding the area covered by subsidies to five locations.
So far, a total of 222 organizations have received grants for projects applied for by organizations in each region. We plan to continue this program in the future in regions where Sumitomo Riko Group has production bases, further increasing the scope of our support.
We will inform you of grant applications either from Sumitomo Riko or from the organizations with which we collaborate.

Support for the Project to Nurture Creators of a Sustainable Society

Sumitomo Riko is a co-sponsor of the “Project for the Development of Creators of a Sustainable Society” organized by Aichi Prefecture.
This project aims to further expand the activities of NPOs by promoting the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). In addition, companies and universities cooperate with NPOs to create a system to support local activities and develop human resources to build a sustainable society.
As a sponsor, Sumitomo Riko, in addition to introducing examples of its own initiatives, selects outstanding proposals through voting by prefectural residents in the “NPO Awards” and makes donations based on the results. In this way, we support the growth of NPOs and actively contribute to human resource development for the creation of a sustainable society.
