Formulation of the Environmental Vision

Under the Sumitomo Spirit, the Sumitomo Riko Group is united in its efforts to become a "Global Excellent Manufacturing Company" in accordance with its corporate philosophy: "Strive to protect the global environment and to contribute to creating better communities."
In recent years, the global push towards decarbonization has accelerated significantly, with various countries and companies committing to carbon neutrality by 2050. In this context, the Sumitomo Riko Group is actively tackling environmental issues as a key challenge, supporting the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and securing approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for the science-based targets set by our parent company, Sumitomo Electric Group. We are committed to promoting information disclosure and environmental initiatives based on global standards to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
In addition to climate change, global environmental issues such as water risks, resource depletion, plastic waste, and biodiversity loss are becoming increasingly severe and are recognized as significant challenges by the international community. In response to these issues, efforts to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), implement a circular economy, and conserve biodiversity are rapidly accelerating worldwide.
In light of the rapid environmental changes we are experiencing, we aim to contribute to a sustainable society while pursuing sustainable development as a business. To achieve this, maintaining a long-term perspective and responding to global trends are crucial as we continuously provide valuable offerings. To guide our efforts, we have established the Sumitomo Riko Long-Term Environmental Vision 2050. Additionally, by backcasting from this vision, we formulated the Environment 2029V  in April 2023.
