Safety and Health

We are further strengthening our global safety activities to achieve zero occupational, fire, and traffic accidents. Achieving zero accidents requires both the development of safety-conscious employees and the creation of safe organizations and workplaces. We are building a strong safety culture that enables every employee to maintain safety awareness and act safely on their own initiative.

Based on the standards previously used across the Sumitomo Riko Group, we have formalized them as the Safety and Health Management Guidelines. We also operate the GSS (Global Safety Standards), a group-wide framework comprising various safety standards.

Safety is our top priority for happiness of all employees and prosperity of the company. We confirm the safety before starting operations of the day.

In addition to each of our activities, associates participate in decision-making at various Safety and Health conference bodies and committees at each of our bases as well as Safety and Health Patrols. At the work sites, we gather feedback from associates and utilize it to make improvements, “Collect and Reveal activities.”

We continue to promote safety activities with the goal of zero accidents each year.

The Sumitomo Riko Group promotes the creation of a safe organization across its domestic and overseas sites through regular workplace inspections conducted by top management, including site managers, and safety personnel. These activities help ensure the early identification and correction of unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.

We promotes a safe workplace through the following activities:
Occupational Accident Prevention: Eliminating unsafe conditions by maintaining well-organized offices and manufacturing sites and preventing contact between forklifts and pedestrians through the separation of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Fire Prevention: Eliminating ignition sources through the inspection, maintenance, and cleaning of machinery/equipment.
Workplace Environment: Managing workplace environmental factors such as chemical substances, heat, and noise.

The Sumitomo Riko Group has established and implemented the GSS (Global Safety Standards) and conducts audits to ensure compliance with these standards. In addition, top management engages in safety dialogues with employees to enhance their safety awareness and knowledge. We also improve each individual's ability to recognize hazards through hazard prediction training, thereby cultivating a strong safety mindset throughout the organization.

As part of our fire prevention activities, we have established fire prevention standards that define fire prevention requirements. We also promote inspections of electrical machinery/equipment using thermal imaging cameras to detect abnormalities at an early stage.
Furthermore, top management verifies the implementation of fire prevention measures through on-site inspections at domestic and overseas sites as well as through online guidance. We also direct sites to strengthen machinery/equipment inspections based on lessons learned from accidents and fires at other companies and to promote thorough 5S activities to eliminate combustible materials. Through these initiatives, we continuously strengthen our fire prevention measures.

We have introduced a chemical substance management system to centrally manage chemical substances used within the Company. The system supports SDS management, management of applicable legal and regulatory requirements, chemical risk assessments, and searches for prohibited substances contained in products, thereby providing an environment that enables employees to effectively manage chemical substances.
